TIPS FOR CHOOSING MUSIC REQUESTS

MUSIC REQUESTS

View music request tips

Choosing music requests, whether it be party music or wedding music, can be a little more difficult and time consuming than you first may anticipate. After months or even years of planning the perfect event you don’t want to give yourself an extra headache when it comes to choosing your music.

Here are 5 quick tips to consider when choosing the party or wedding music requests, before handing the list over to your Singer or DJ:

5 GREAT MUSIC REQUEST TIPS

  1. Always consider your guests. That’s if you like them of course! :) Which I am sure you do. Some people like to hand out an invitation with space for their guests to write their own favourite song requests.
  2. Keep the majority of the requests uplifting/ upbeat. The pace of the music will dictate the mood of your guests and ultimately the end result. Typically you only need a few love songs for the end and maybe the beginning of the night, so I would keep about 90% of the music upbeat if you can help it.
  3. Take your time. By giving yourself as much time as possible you will be able to come up with your TRUE favourites. it’s very hard when put on the spot to remember all of the kinds of music you like. What you might want to do is keep a notepad handy from the very start of your planning, then just scribble down anything that you hear over time that takes your fancy. If you have an iphone the Shazam app is great for identifying and noting down songs you like.
  4. Do it as a couple or as a group. It’s can sometimes be easier to remember your favourite music when talking with loved ones or friends. By sharing your favourite music you can remind someone of theirs, and vice versa.
  5. Have fun. The last thing your Singer or DJ wants is to add and extra chore to your diary, so please have fun when choosing your favourites. You can make a night of it with your friends, inviting them over for a few drinks and maybe getting your music collection out – though be prepared for some Mickey taking!

I hope you have found this useful. If you have any more questions on this please just let me know. You can check back soon with the Vocal Show Wedding Blog for more great party and music tips.

Why Good Party Music is So Important

GOOD PARTY MUSIC

party music

Having the wrong type of music can bring down the mood of the world’s best party. People feel music and good party music has the ability to not only create a particular atmosphere at your event, but it also has a very strong influence on your attending party guests and their general experience.

It would be silly to say “OK this playlist is perfect for any party”. Every party is different and party music often needs mixing properly on the night, which is why a professional Party DJ or Singer is a good idea to manage your Party Entertainment. Either way though you will need to give your music choices some thought and consideration.

MAKING GREAT PARTY MUSIC

When people are party planning they will generally have close family and friends attending and so it’s quite possible that you’ll know their party music preferences in advance. Why not sit down with a friend over a bottle of wine or a few beers and reminisce about the old days. Nothing is better on the night of your party than to have certain party tunes that stir up those nostalgic memories!

HAVE FUN WITH IT

Listen through your old CDs or other party music collections. What’s important here is that you like the music and you think that your party guests will enjoy it on the night also. Another trick is to send off little song request slips with your invitations – this will certainly bring some colourful party music ideas your way and you’ll be surprised at what some people suggest!
