Session Singing: ‘How I Feel’

RECENT SESSION SINGER WORK: JANUARY 2010

I’ve recently done some more Session Singer work for Liverpool song writer Paul Owens and thought I’d share with you the result. The track is called ‘How I Feel’ and was recorded again at ‘Black Sheep Recording Studio’ in Liverpool, arranged and composed by Gary Irwin.

My services were offered purely as a Session Singer, recording the melody and harmony/ backing vocals on this track, however Paul has allowed me once again to publish his work on our YouTube channel and Wedding Blog.

Repertoire Update: January 2010

NEW WEDDING MUSIC ADDED

My apologies for the lateness of this post. With it being such a busy year in 2009 I’ve only just managed to make this update to my repertoire/ Song List. These are all great songs, some of which were learnt especially for clients who purchased a ‘New Song Add-On’ for their first dance or otherwise.

GROW OLD WITH YOU

This song was featured in the 1998 film ‘The Wedding Singer’, staring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. It’s quite a short acoustic track but the words are sweet and aside from the obvious attraction to this song for me (Being a Wedding Singer) it does make a great first (or last!) dance.  

 

 

LOVING YOU

I learnt this song for a client’s first dance in 2009. This is from Paolo Nutini’s 2006 Album ‘These Streets’ and it’s got a very cool, sexy feel to it. Although it’s not your most mushy, romantic first dance song, it’s a nice slow track with some good lyrics:

“Back off loneliness and hello tenderness,
I've been waiting for your call for so long,
and it must been hard just to follow your soul,
to stick to the road that your heart wants you to go….”

DAKOTA

Before you start thinking “Wow, this Singer has a serious time delay for popular music” I should tell you that this too was a song learnt for a client back in 2009. Dakota by Stereophonics was first released in 2005 and spent 20 weeks in the UK single chart. I can’t think why I didn’t learn it back then, well actually I can …. It’s a really tough song to sing (In the original key anyway), though totally worth it.

 

 

UP ALL NIGHT

‘Up all night’ by Take That is a great party song. As you will probably know I have had this at #1 spot in the Vocal Show website’s media player for some time, though I shamefully haven’t managed to update the online repertoire since, so thought I’d better let you know…. just in case.

A real Feel Good song and a was a hot favourite for 2009!

PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!!!

It’s that time of year again and we’re all planning and looking forward to those Christmas Parties, with the office, with family and of course friends.The Christmas adverts are reminding us to get out and shop and we find ourselves muttering “Is it that time of year already! It’s come around quick hasn’t it?”  Now let’s get organised and talk about party entertainment.

 

THE VOCAL SHOW (FROM £595)

To help your Party go with a swing we have tailored a unique Party Entertainment Package called 'The Vocal Show'. Here’s an outline of what’s on offer:

• Background music is played to welcome your party guests and set the right tone.
• Party Singer Luca will then perform his first 30 minute Show, usually during your drinks reception or meal.
• Sally music will follow immediately after Luca's Show.
• Party Singer Luca's second 30 minute Show is usually placed after food is cleared. This marks the start of the 'Party' - bringing the attention to the dance floor.
• DJ Sally continues with the Live Party Entertainment until finish, ensuring that the dance floor stays full!
• For announcements you will be supplied with a radio microphone.

AVAILABLE DATES

Luca and Sally are almost fully booked now for December 2009 but they also have some dates available for January 2010 (for those late office parties!) and are taking bookings for February 2010 onwards for Birthdays, anniversaries and other private events.

Calling all brides ‘Four Weddings’

ITV’S ‘FOUR WEDDINGS’ SERIES

We had a very interesting call the other day from ITV, asking us if we would make our brides aware of Living TV’s Hit Show ‘Four Weddings’. Don’t shoot, I’m just the messenger! But apparently they’re on the look out for brides who are willing to take part in their new series (Click here to see an Episode).

They are searching at the moment for brides getting married between October 2009 – March 2010.

You can catch Four Weddings on Living TV – Mondays at 9pm and it’s a 10 part series, including a Celebrity Episode!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Four brides-to-be put their weddings under scrutiny by inviting three other brides to attend as guests and critique the day based on on four key areas:

1. The Dress
2. The Food
3. The Venue
4. The Overall Experience

Hi all! I thought I’d share with you a bit of work that I’ve recently done as a Session Singer for Liverpool song writer Paul Owens. The track is called ‘Maid of Stone’. It was produced at ‘Black Sheep Recording Studio’ in Liverpool, arranged and composed by Gary Irwin.

RECORDING ‘MAID OF STONE’

Both Paul  and Gary were a pleasure to work with and I really enjoyed my time in the studio recording this with them. Although as a Session Singer it’s not a requirement to, I actually like this song and it’s growing on me more each time I hear it. It’s a pretty chilled and bassy guitar number and so required quite a laid back Vocal, so it was quite straight forward to sing.

My New Record Acclaimed Vocal Coach

Now I’m not usually one for name dropping but I have had the great fortune recently of being accepted as a student by record acclaimed Vocal Coach Sally Rivers! As a professional Singer I take my vocal health and training very seriously and always welcome the opportunity to learn more from the people who know. Daily vocal workouts are an essential part of my profession and a must if I am to stay ‘well tuned’ for my gigs. Although I am quite content with my vocal range and ability thus far I always like to push myself that bit further and saw this opportunity after meeting with Sally Rivers.

Alix Robb is a young Singer/ Songwriter from Staffordshire who is pursuing a career in the professional music industry ….. and so far doing an excellent job of it.
